Natasha Higgins visits Mill Hill Place and meets Rishover brothers, property developers and founders of the Heronslea Group.
‘Downsizing’ is the word. With a sudden surge in lavish new developments popping up like mushrooms after rain, the prospect of selling one’s family home along with its five flights of stairs and innumerable bedrooms – once the kids have taken off – appeals to many. It is also a market the Rishover brothers, property developers and founders of the Heronslea Group, have successfully tapped into.
Upon entering Mill Hill Place, a development of 38 luxury apartments and penthouses which sit on an elevated plot of land with stunning views of the surrounding area, one is struck by the sheer perfection in the landscaping and architecture of these buildings. Admittedly, the sun is happily beating on the premises today – which always helps – but nonetheless, it looks like a film-set: “As this is a conservation area we had to keep the aesthetics of the development in line with the architecture in the area which tends to be a mixture of late 1930s and 1960s,” explains Jason Rishover, Managing Director.
Both Jason and his brother Jamie come from construction backgrounds. They worked for their father’s firm in the 80s and 90s and today have over 20 years experience in building. Undoubtedly, this has helped propel their current business model. With a portfolio of over 15 developments, things are progressing in leaps and bounds: “I’m trained as a master carpenter and have a solid understanding of the building trade. I essentially run the site,” explains Jamie. Jason, on the other hand, overviews all the paperwork, legal and bureaucratic side of the business.
Heronslea_1307_C-1“The idea behind Mill Hill Place, specifically, is to provide bespoke quality accommodation which goes beyond market expectations,” explains Jason. “This development is aimed at buyers who’ve been through the joys of running a family home and raising their offspring. Now, they crave a place that is easily maintained, finished to an impeccably high standard, big enough to accommodate guests and grandchildren and most importantly a secure habitat which allows them to fly off to the warmer climes, at the drop of a hat”.
The apartments range from 900 to 2,600 square feet and benefit from high ceilings, wide corridors, underfloor heating, air conditioning in the main rooms, solid-oak balconies, excessive storage space and an underground car park. The penthouses support IPod control 4 audio and visual systems allowing occupiers to control mood lighting, blinds and TVs remotely. The kitchens are bespoke and feature stone worktops and Gaggenau built-in appliances, while the bathrooms boast designer sanitary ware and bespoke vanity units. The final finish date is set to be December this year.
The Heronslea Group is growing fast with more projects set to come on early next year. They have become a leading developer in the super suburbs throughout north London, Middlesex and Hertfordshire. Mill Hill Place was voted ‘North West London’s landmark development of the year’.
At a twenty 20 minute train ride away from Central London, this leafy part of the world offers the best of both city and country living and certainly provides food for thought.
